Application Process

Alice Miller caters for up to 280 students at our Macedon campus. We have an open access policy, which operates without regard to religious, academic, physical or racial factors. We carefully assess children who want to come here, but previous academic success or failure is not a factor in that assessment. We are interested in indications of social consciousness, focus and application to schoolwork and other activities, adventurousness and curiosity.

We are currently fully subscribed with waiting lists for most year levels. Places are now applied for two years in advance; for example, students wishing to apply for Year 7 2025 apply in 2023 at the latest. Many families are choosing to apply earlier to ensure a higher chance of acceptance.

We prioritise enrolments in this order:

  1. Incoming Candlebark students, who are automatically enrolled at Alice Miller unless they choose to attend secondary school elsewhere.
  2. Siblings of current Alice Miller or Candlebark students.
  3. Prospective students from the local area who we feel would be a good fit for the school, and who have been on the waiting list for some time.
  4. Prospective students from outside the local area who we feel would be a good fit for the school, and who have been on the waiting list for some time.
  5. Prospective students who have recently joined the waiting list who we feel would be a good fit for the school.

If you would like your child to be considered for a place, please follow the application process below.

The application process is as follows:

  1. Download, complete, scan and send an application form, available here: Application form. Forms can be emailed to enrolments@alicemiller.school, or returned via post to PO Box 209, Macedon, Vic, 3440.
  2. If a place is available, our Enrolments Coordinator will be in touch to request school reports. To expedite the process, you may wish to send scanned copies of your child’s most recent school reports to enrolments@alicemiller.school along with your child’s application form. Please note that we generally commence the application process no longer than two years prior to your child’s scheduled enrolment at the school.
  3. If we are satisfied with the reports, we will be in touch to arrange an interview. We like to interview parents and carers, as well as prospective students.
  4. Following the interview, we may offer trial days or even weeks.

Fees

The fees for 2023 are $14,040 per annum for students in Year 7 through Year 10, or $14,929 for students in Years 11 or 12. However, a discount of 5% will apply each term for people who pay fees by the due date for that term. Fees are all inclusive of camps, excursions, books, stationery, food and bus conveyancing, with the only costs not covered being instrumental music lessons and the Year 9 six-week Big Trip.
